Aubrey Wedding Photographer: Horse Country Weddings Done Right
Aubrey calls itself horse country, and the land backs it up: oak groves, white fences, and long views that turn amber about an hour before sunset. Over the last decade this stretch of the 380 corridor has quietly become one of the densest wedding venue clusters in North Texas, and I photograph here constantly. It is twenty minutes from my front door in Denton.
Barn and estate weddings are their own photographic discipline. The venues are gorgeous, but the light swings hard from open pasture sun to deep pavilion shade, and the difference between good and unforgettable photos is a photographer who has planned for that swing instead of reacting to it.
Where Aubrey couples get married
Morgan Creek Barn is the anchor: 52 acres on West Sherman Drive with a covered pavilion that solves the Texas weather problem without giving up the outdoor feel. Right next door sits The Milestone Mansion Aubrey, which means this one stretch of road hosts weddings nearly every weekend of the year. My Morgan Creek Barn guide walks the property in photographer detail.
Minutes south in Cross Roads is The Hillside Estate, a hilltop venue with panoramic sunset views where I photographed Merin and Jaison’s wedding, still one of my favorite portrait windows ever. The full territory, including what to ask each venue before signing, is mapped in my DFW wedding venue guides.

Reading barn light
Covered pavilions and barns give you open sides and a dark roof, which produces some of the most flattering directional light anywhere, if your ceremony faces the right way. When I shoot an Aubrey venue, I scout the ceremony orientation against the actual sunset azimuth for your date, not a generic west. The computed sunset table in the venue hub is where that planning starts, with the ceremony anchored about 75 minutes before sundown.
And because this is Texas, we always have a weather conversation. Most Aubrey venues have strong covered options, and my rain backup plan guide shows how a rainy forecast becomes a moody, beautiful gallery instead of a crisis.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a wedding photographer cost in Aubrey, TX?
Most full-service DFW wedding photographers charge between about $2,500 and $5,000. My collections start at $5,200 for 8 hours with one photographer, published openly on my pricing page. Estate and barn weddings usually book the ESTATE collection at $6,000 so a second photographer can cover cocktail hour while we shoot portraits.
Have you photographed at The Hillside Estate near Aubrey?
Yes. I photographed a wedding at The Hillside Estate in Cross Roads, minutes from Aubrey, and keep a detailed photographer guide for the venue. The hilltop sunset window there is one of the best in DFW.
Do barn venues photograph darker than ballrooms?
They photograph differently, not worse. Covered pavilions like Morgan Creek Barn’s create soft directional light that is extremely flattering for portraits. The key is planning the ceremony orientation and timeline around the real sunset for your date, which I do for every wedding.
What happens if it rains on our outdoor wedding?
We use the venue’s covered spaces and a prepared backup plan, and the gallery still delivers. Overcast light is soft and even, and rain photos have a mood sunny days cannot fake. I walk every couple through the backup plan before the day.
