Denton is home for me, and it is a wonderfully strange place to photograph a wedding. You have a Victorian courthouse anchoring a live music square, two universities that keep the town young, and, within a short drive, some of the most serious estate wedding venues in Texas. Very few towns give a photographer brick alleys, prairie sunsets, and grand ballrooms in the same afternoon.

I photograph weddings here as a local, not a visitor. I know which side of the square holds its light after 6pm, how long it actually takes to get from a downtown ceremony to portraits on the courthouse lawn, and when the evening glow hits the fields west of town. That local knowledge shows up in your photos, because wedding photography in North Texas is mostly a game of timing and light.

Where Denton couples get married

Downtown, Monroe Pearson is the standout: an 1800s grocery warehouse on East Oak Street with a mezzanine, a speakeasy style bar, and room for about 350 guests, all fully indoors. On the TWU campus, the Little Chapel-in-the-Woods has been hosting ceremonies since 1939 and is one of the most beloved historic chapels in North Texas.

Just outside town the estate belt begins. The Milestone Mansion Denton sits on 15 acres with a pond and dock (helpful local note: it is physically in Krum, so map your drive time accordingly). And about 10 minutes east in Cross Roads is The Hillside Estate, a hilltop venue where I photographed a real wedding and watched the light break through the trees at exactly the right minute. For the full picture, my DFW wedding venue guides cover each of these properties in photographer-level detail.

The Denton timeline

Every Denton wedding I build starts from one rule: the ceremony should begin about 75 minutes before sunset. That window puts your vows in warm light and your portraits in the best ten minutes of the day. The venue guide hub includes a computed North Texas sunset table for every month of the year, so you can sanity-check your own date in about thirty seconds. If you are still sketching the day, my hour by hour timeline guide walks through the whole structure.

One more local advantage: because I am based in Denton, getting ready coverage, courthouse square portraits, and an estate reception can all live comfortably in one collection without travel gymnastics. Couples deciding between a first look or a traditional reveal get an honest read on what each choice costs the timeline.

What wedding photography costs

I publish pricing because you should not have to book a call to learn a number. Wedding collections are:

  • ARCHIVE, $5,200: 8 hours of coverage with one photographer and a full online gallery.
  • ESTATE, $6,000: 8 hours with two photographers, plus an engagement session.
  • LEGACY, $6,800: 10 hours with two photographers, film photography, and an engagement or bridal session.
  • HERITAGE, $9,000: all-day coverage, two photographers, engagement and bridal sessions, film, and a custom album.

Engagement sessions are $800 and bridal sessions are $700. The full breakdown, including a la carte options, lives on the pricing page. If you are comparing quotes, my guide to wedding photography costs in Dallas explains what typically drives the differences.

My collections start at $5,200 for 8 hours with one photographer, and most Denton couples invest between $5,200 and $6,800 depending on hours and whether a second photographer is included. Do you photograph weddings on the Denton courthouse square?

Yes. I am based in Denton and photograph on and around the square regularly. Golden hour portraits by the courthouse are a signature of downtown Denton weddings, and I plan the timeline so we are there when the light is right.

Which wedding venues near Denton do you know best?

I keep detailed photographer guides for Monroe Pearson, The Milestone Mansion Denton, and The Hillside Estate in Cross Roads, along with a full DFW venue guide hub covering the estate belt from Denton to McKinney.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book 9 to 12 months out, and popular fall and spring Saturdays go earlier. If your date is inside six months, reach out anyway. I keep a few dates open each season.
